Reflections on November
November’s richness is about the beautiful secrets of winter forests. Under those gray skies and mossy trees are many treasures to find… don’t let the rain or cold keep you away! As webs of mycelium break down bones and leaves, they fruit into medicinal and healing mushrooms, which you can enjoy in many ways from a warm bowl of congee to a cup of cocoa to warm you after your forest wanders. (Pair that with a slice of beautiful pine nut cake for even more coziness!)
The forest itself gives many delights as well. You can even distill its essence into an Elvish drink! The trees are dropping their bounties below, from pine nuts to acorns to the scented branches that flavor teas and so much more. I love wandering through the woods on frosty or foggy mornings and just drinking in the amazing scent of damp woods and fresh branches. Coming home to cozy foods just makes it all the more glorious.
I have so loved sharing all of these foresty wonders with all of you this month! And whether or not you’re one of my patrons, I deeply appreciate your support. Every like, follow, comment, or contribution truly does mean so much to me, and reminds me why I spend all of my best days creating more wonder to share with all of you.
