Miss Wondersmith is stepping aside for a little while.
Hello wonderful people,
Not only are we still in the midst of a global pandemic, our country is also experiencing a civil rights movement at a scale that I haven’t seen in my lifetime. There is no question about it: Black Lives Matter, and it is time we step up and do all that we are able to to support this cause. I have been doing my best to listen and learn to determine how best I can help during this intense period of history. (I’ll go back to posting regular content when I feel it is the right time to. I don’t know when that will be, but please stick around! <3)
I’ve come to the conclusion that posting my regular Wondersmith content is a distraction from the voices that really need to be heard right now, so I am going to step aside so that the incredible force of the Black Lives Matter leaders have more virtual space to move forwards.
I won’t be disappearing, though, don’t worry! I’ve decided that there are two primary ways I CAN help: the first is by elevating voices of color by sharing their content on my social media platforms, which I will continue to do. The second is by sharing what I know from my own personal experience about healing from trauma and releasing its effect on the body. I have had PTSD for a very long time, both from long-term traumatic environments and specific traumatic experiences. I’m very much in the midst of healing my own trauma, but I have learned many coping mechanisms and skills along the way. Since mental healthcare is inaccessible for many people (ESPECIALLY people of color), it’s my hope that I can at least offer some of that missing support.
I’ll be posting most of my content on TikTok, since that is where I feel these things will have the strongest impact. I’ll be sharing some of it to my Instagram and Facebook as well. I’ll continue to post about other things from time-to-time, but only when I truly feel I have something valuable to offer that pertains to our current situation - which will be rare, since my perspective is not nearly as important as the people of color that we are supporting.

My Facebook group “The Secret Society of Wonder” will also remain open and can be a place for seeking comfort as well.
TikTok will be my primary mode of sharing helpful information right now. If you have an account, follow me there to see videos about coping with stress and trauma or focusing on regeneration. If you don’t have an account, you can still visit my profile whenever you want - the videos are public!
